On 23 July 2024 Mr Panagiotis Avrampos presented and defended his PhD Thesis titled ‘Study of the powder deposition in Laser Powder Bed Fusion Αdditive Μanufacturing processes’.
The original contribution of the thesis is summarized as follows: (a) Type selection and design of a powder deposition system in SLS/SLM additive manufacturing through the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and prototype construction (b) simulation using the Discrete Method (DEM) and parameter optimization using the Taguchi DoE method of powder deposition via a vibrating guide blade (c) simulation and optimization, as in (b) above, of powder deposition by sieving (d) study of an innovative multi-material layer deposition method with geometric algorithms, numerical simulation and experimental documentation.
